Remember that speech by Al Pacino in Any Given Sunday, where he went on a tangent about the game of football (and life) being a game of inches? Here’s just some calculations about how big the Eagles have gotten in just the first off-season after the Reid era.
So let’s say we send Celek, Ertz, Momah, and Cooper out on routes in the red-zone.
Using height measurements from CBS.com, they combine for a standing vertical height of 308 inches.
CBS’s projected depth chart for the secondary for the Giants include Webster, Rolle, Brown, and Amukamara. They combine for a height of 287.
CBS’s projected depth chart for the secondary for the Redskins include Hall, Meriweather, Wilson, and Doughty. They combine for a height of 283.
CBS’s projected depth chart for the secondary for the Cowboys include Carr, Claiborne, Church, Allen. They combine for a height of 290.
So at best there is a disparity of 25 inches. At worst, 17 inches.
For what it’s worth, Jackson, Maclin, Celek, and Harbor amount to 293 inches.
